Vietnam and the US are building new ties in high technology, innovation, and investment, with a deal on cooperation in the semiconductor industry clinched.

The US is one of the most important export markets for Vietnam, and US enterprises are among the biggest investors in Vietnam.

Vietnam needs to improve the business environment to be able to attract large investors from the US, or ‘eagles’, as called by the Vietnamese.

The Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank) and the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) on September 10 inked a Commitment Letter on a bilateral loan worth $300 million with a seven-year tenor.

Disbursement of the funding will be made directly by the USTDA to the MITRE. Payment will be made in accordance with the deliverables approval by the VATM.
