VietNamNet Bridge - Vietnamese rice exporters have lowered selling prices, but are still finding it difficult to obtain export contracts.

Chinese businesses are now collecting Vietnam’s rice in large quantities, which has raised major concerns.

The Philippines plans to import 1.7 million tons of rice this year and even more next year, giving Vietnamese exporters a chance to bid on big contracts.  

 Indonesia's state logistics agency BULOG has reached a deal with the Vietnam Food Association to purchase 200,000 tonnes of rice, officials announced at a seminar in Jakarta on September 23.

The government has decided that Vinafood 1, together with Vinafood 2, will be the two leads to conduct negotiations and make direct transactions with highly concentrated rice markets (where there are few exporters of rice).

Following the success of the Quang Ninh – Quang Binh route, the Vietnam Maritime Bureau (Vinamarine) is considering putting other coastal shipping routes into operation to help ease the current overloading on roads.

 VietNamNet Bridge – The rice price in the domestic market has been increasing sharply, which may lead to losses for exporters if they bid for the contract to provide 500,000 tons of rice to the Philippines.

Vietnamese enterprises that export rice to China across the border have said that China, as expected, has prohibited rice imports from Vietnam through unofficial channels. However, they say this will not affect the domestic market.
