Fishing boats are seen near Phu Quy Port

To reach Phu Quy Island, which is 120 kilometers east of Phan Thiet City, I traveled by coach from HCMC to Phan Thiet Port and then took a waterbus to the island.

What impressed me most was the wild scenery here. Basic infrastructures such as roads and ports are all in place but the island remains quite isolated, calm, and wild.

The island is famous for its beaches with crystal-clear water, green mountains, cheap homestays, fresh seafood, and hospitable locals.

In addition to peaceful scenery and unspoiled landscapes, other attractions on the island include Ngu Phung sea embankment, three large wind turbines, and Linh Son Pagoda on Cao Cat Mountain.

Ngu Phung embankment connects the island’s Tam Thanh and Ngu Phung communes

Phu Quy Island is still quite isolated and calm

The weather is generally dry and sunny
