The HCMC government is increasingly resorting to cameras to enhance the enforcement of traffic rules and impose fines on traffic violators, reported Thanh Nien newspaper.

Vietnam ranks fourth among the countries that house the largest amount of motorbikes in the world, according to Motorcycles Data’s statistics in 2018.

Hanoi chairman Nguyen Duc Chung said that a motorbike ban was just a proposal from the transport department and has not been approved by the city.

Viet Nam should improve public transit and road safety rather than limiting the number of motorbikes, as the two-wheeled vehicles will continue to be the country's main form of transport for the foreseeable future.
