The Ministry of Health states that there has so far been 14 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infection cases of the nCoV, including two Chinese people, six Vietnamese nationals who recently returned from Wuhan city in China, five Vietnamese people who had come into close contact with nCoV-infected patients, and one American citizen who had spent some time transiting in Wuhan.

Of the cases, three people have so far been treated and discharged from hospital, whilst the remaining patients are currently being strictly monitored and remain in a stable condition.

At present, there have been 82 suspected cases of the nCoV infection that have been reported with all of the individuals being put into quarantine areas under strict supervision as a means of avoiding the virus from reaching the wider community.

In addition, there have been 517 cases where people have been put into isolation despite being in normal health due to their close contact with the suspected cases.

According to the Health Committee of Hubei Province, China, the number of deaths caused by the nCoV has increased by 91 cases to 871, with the total number of infected cases reaching over 29,600.

Meanwhile, 1,795 people have fully recovered and been discharged from hospital.

Hubei province recorded an additional 2,618 new cases on February 9 , including 1,921 cases in Wuhan city, the centre of the current outbreak.

Of the 91 new deaths recorded in Hubei, a total of 73 have been in Wuhan. The number of global nCoV infections has now passed the 40,000 mark, along with 904 fatalities. VOV
