"We have conducted an on-site examination, as well as verified and traced the truck driver who discharged used oil into the environment," said Nguyen Huu Duc, deputy director of Hoa Binh province’s police.

On October 15, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the Ministry of Public Security to urgently investigate, and strictly handle the case if any law violation is found.

The PM asked the People's Committee of Hoa Binh province to immediately ask Viwasupco to solve the issue and resume the provision of clean water for Hanoi’s residents as soon as possible.

Besides, Phuc required the People's Committees of Hanoi and Hoa Binh province to take measures and immediately replace the polluted water source with the safe one and ensure sufficient supply of clean water.

The Ministry of Construction is asked to coordinate with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to inspect the operation of water plants throughout the country to ensure clean and safe water supply. Hanoitimes
