A section of the Metro Line No.1 project in HCMC. The Opera House metro station will be opened to the public on April 30

The city’s residents will be allowed to visit parts of the station under the guidance of the station’s staff, according to a representative of the municipal Urban Railway Management Board.

As one of the two underground sections in the project’s contract package 1B, the municipal Opera House metro station under Le Loi Street is 190 meters long and 26 meters wide.

As designed, the Opera House station will have four basements, with the first one housing a waiting lounge, ticket machines, automated fee collection gates and toilets. The second and fourth basement will function as platforms where passengers can get on or off the train. The third basement will accommodate equipment for the station’s staff and other auxiliary facilities.

Earlier, the relevant units had removed construction barriers set up in front of the municipal Opera House after nearly six years of building the station. They will hand over the cleared site to the HCMC Transport Department for further work.

The Metro Line No.1 project is some 71% complete and is set to be put into operation by 2021. SGT
