The latest minor earthquake hits Kon Plong district on October 21 evening.
 


The quake shook the area at a depth of approximately 8.1km at around 20:21 and caused no injuries.

This is the third consecutive earthquake that has struck Kon Plong district since October 17.

Two subsequent quakes measuring 2.8 and 3.5 on the Richter scale jolted the district on October 17.

None of these minor earthquakes posed a natural disaster risk to the locality, said experts from Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Centre.

According to the centre, Kon Plong district had recorded dozens of earthquakes with a magnitude of no more than 4.0 from April to June 2021, causing no natural disaster risk.

The Institute of Geophysics has set up an additional monitoring station in order to better understand and promptly warn of dangerous geological phenomena, if any.
