A venue is crowded with people in Japan. The Japanese Embassy in Vietnam has announced a list of 37 overseas education consulting firms to be stripped of their role as a representative that can apply for Japanese visas on behalf of their student customers

These firms, except for Daystar Group in Thua Thien-Hue Province, which has been shut down, will not be able to handle Japanese visa applications for their clients for six months.

Among these enterprises, 23 were subject to the suspension from August 1 to January 31, 2020; one was suspended between June 20 and December 20; 11 others were not allowed to apply for Japanese
visas for Vietnamese students from June 1 to December 1; and the remaining firm was suspended between May 20 and November 20.

As many as 26 firms on the list are located in Hanoi City, whereas the headquarters of four others are in Nghe An Province, and two in Thua Thien-Hue Province.

Since the beginning of the year, the Japanese Embassy has repeatedly issued warnings of problems related to overseas study in Japan.

The embassy also proposed the Vietnamese agencies closely govern the activities of overseas education consulting firms and issue warnings about fraudsters to high schools.

Apart from this, the embassy also warned of some firms misusing the names of Japanese language teaching centers in Japan and providing incorrect information about scholarship programs.

In addition, it advised that those who wish to study in Japan should not believe rumors and advertisements about monthly and hourly wages for international students in Japan. SGT
