Ho Chi Minh City to have new BRT bus route
The bus rapid transit (BRT) route No. 1 that runs along Vo Van Kiet - Mai Chi Tho Boulevard is expected to be opened to the public in late 2022. The investment in this bus route is about $3 million per 1km.
This route has a total length of 26km, starting from An Lac intersection running to Rach Chiec station of metro line 1.
This route runs through districts 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, Binh Tan and Binh Chanh District.
It also connects to Ham Nghi and Cho Lon stations to increase connectivity with the existing bus system.
Technical characteristics and service quality of this route are similar to the model of BRT light systems, satisfying requirements of smart traffic.
In the first phase of operation, 42 specialized buses will be used on this route. Each bus can carry up to 72 passengers.
