Accordingly, the municipal government will select the most effective design created by one of the five prestigious consulting firms chosen to participate in the contest.

As planned, from now until November, the participating enterprises will be instructed on how to enter the contest. The organizer will announce the competition results in December.

During the selection process, the HCMC government will assign a selection council tasked with ensuring objectivity, equality and secrecy in the assessment.

The Ben Thanh underground commercial center project will be located under Quach Thi Trang Roundabout and along Le Loi Street from Ben Thanh Market to the Opera House.

The project is set to cover an area of 45,000 square meters, with total investment of VND6.8 trillion.

The underground commercial center is expected to be completed at the same time as metro line No. 1, which is slated for operation in late 2021.

The Ben Thanh Market underground station will act as a link for metro line Nos. 1, 2, 3a and 4. SGT
