According to the HCM City Road and Railway Traffic Police Department (PC08), during this time the local transport police forces will strengthen inspections of motor vehicles on roads and impose fines on vehicles that do not meet technical standards, such as outdated vehicles and homemade vehicles that affect traffic and cause environmental pollution.

From March 1-15, the traffic police force will focus on informing the public about legal regulations regarding the issue. From March 15 to June 14, the traffic police will patrol, inspect and handle violators.

The HCM City Road and Railway Traffic Police Department said that it would mobilize all forces for this campaign in order to raise awareness of local people in obeying the traffic law, reducing traffic accidents, traffic jams and vehicles that cause air pollution.

To control emissions in big cities, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc recently issued a directive banning old, outdated motor vehicles that do not meet technical standards and cause pollution on the streets.
