Duc has signed the plan to organize Covid-19 vaccinations in the city from August 29 to December 31.

The city has 7,208,800 people 18 years old and older. From March 8 to August 27, the city administered 5,806,990 vaccine doses, with 273,767 people getting the second dose. Based on the requirement of vaccine coverage for the people and the regulations of the Ministry of Health on administering the second dose, the HCM City Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control has developed a vaccination roadmap as follows:

+ Phase 1, from August 29 to September 15, the city will administer the first dose to about 680,000 people, reaching 90% coverage of people of over 18 years old.

Administering the second dose to those who have received the first dose with the suitable gap between two doses depending on vaccine types, totaling about 2,089,000 people, including: 733,000 people with Astrazeneca or Pfizer vaccine; 485,000 people with Moderna vaccine; 31,000 people with Pfizer vaccine; 840,000 people with Sinopharm vaccine. Thus, the total number of vaccines needed is 2,769,000 doses.

+ Phase 2, scheduled from September 16 to September 30, to cover the remaining 10% of people of over 18 years old (about 720,000 people).

Administering the second dose to those who have received the first dose with the suitable gap between two doses depending on vaccine types, totaling about 656,900 people, including: 500,000 people with Astrazeneca or Pfizer vaccine; 18,200 people with Moderna vaccine; 700 people with Pfizer vaccine; 138,000 people with Sinopharm vaccine. Thus, the city will need 1,376,900 doses of vaccine.

+ Phase 3, from October 1 to October 15, the city will administer the second dose to 2,600,000 people who have received the first dose with Astrazeneca or Pfizer vaccines.

+ Phase 4, from October 16 to December 31, the city will administer give the second dose to 1,400,000 people who have had the first dose for a specific time according to the appropriate vaccine.

Duc said that with the plan, from August 29 to December 31, the city will need about 8,145,900 doses of vaccine, of which 1,400,000 doses are used for the first shot and about 6,745,900 doses for the second shot.

To have enough vaccines for the plan, in addition to the vaccines allocated by the Ministry of Health, the HCM City Department of Health will coordinate with relevant units to advise the HCM City People's Committee on negotiating to buy vaccines for the city under the guidance of authorized agencies and the law.
