The detoxification work at Rang Dong Light Source & Vacuum Flask JSC is slated to be completed within the next five days

 

 

According to Urban Environment Company 10 (Urenco 10), the company has handed over the entire area of around 6,000 square metres of the firm affected by the recent fire to the Military Environmental Chemistry Institute for being cleaned up after finishing the waste and substance collection. 

Of the sum, 4,000 square metres were transferred this morning.

However, the treatment of the fire wastes have not yet been decided, said a representative from the firm.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Dau Xuan Hoai, deputy head of the Military Environmental Chemistry Institute, sai that the clean-up work is scheduled for completion within the next five days.

The five-hour blaze on August 28 demolished a third of the inventory at the 6,000-square-metre warehouse belonging to the Rang Dong Light Source and Vacuum Flask JSC in Thanh Xuan Trung Ward, bringing about the loss of around VND150 billion (USD6.4 million).

Roughly 480,000 fluorescent light bulbs were burnt down, releasing some 15.2-27.2 kilos of mercury into the environment. Dtinews
