The stuffed animals hang on both sides of the bus, on the ceiling, and even behind the cabin glass. Bus assistant Mr. Sang, 49, and driver Pham Ngoc Tuyen put up the animals a year ago.

Tuyen's bus has more than 100 animal toys of all shapes, sizes and colors. The bus has now become a mobile "kingdom of stuffed animals" swaying along with the movement of the bus.

Sang said the idea was to enliven the bus with plushies. “I often hang around Mien Dong bus station and try the plush toy claw machine in my spare time to win some lovely stuffed animals for the children at home. Once, I hung them up on two sides of the bus on my way home, and the passengers found them engrossing. That’s why Tuyen and I decided to hang up more and more stuffed toys."

Mood changing

The soft toys are cleverly arranged around the bus without blocking vision. Their adorable look helps to dilute the negative emotions and fatigue of anyone who gets on, and is especially impressive to children.

Bus 146 is their top choice when they need to take a bus.

“I noticed a child eyeing a plush on my bus and I knew she was really into it, so I took it off and allowed her to take it home. But she refused saying that she did not want to destroy the perfect scene that it contributed to the bus and would just look at it every time she got on, " said Mr Sang.

He and Mr. Tuyen came up with the idea of picking up more stuffed animals and putting them in a closet as gifts for the children. When they take the bus, Sang and Tuyen often organize small games for kids to win cute animal plushies.

Adults are also fascinated by the decoration in bus 146. “They love seeing the stuffed animals dangling on the car. It feels like a tiny time capsule of their memories," said Mr. Sang.

Seeing passengers’ joy and receiving compliments puts pep in their steps. To keep the stuffed animals clean and dust-free, Mr. Sang takes advantage of a long stop to clean and sanitize the air-conditioning vents and sweep dust off the floor. At the end of the day, when the bus returns to the station, he sometimes brings them home for a cleaning or replaces them with new ones.
