The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC) said that as of 6 am on August 18, the city had 162,372 cases of Covid-19 cases, including 161,967 locally-transmitted cases, and 405 imported cases.

As many as 33,202 patients are under treatment, including 1,937 children under 16 years old, 2,302 severe cases need ventilators and 16 people need ECMO intervention.

On August 18, the city saw 2,291 patients discharged from the hospital, bringing the total of recovered patients since January 1 to 80,441. There were 255 Covid-19 related deaths reported on the day.

According to HCDC, in the past five days, the city has not had any new outbreaks. There are still 17 outbreak clusters.

According to the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City, 138,667 people were vaccinated on August 18, raising the total number of vaccinated people to 5,064,448.

The city has allowed F1 and F0 cases without symptoms to be under home quarantine. These people will be monitored and cared for with the support of local rapid response teams.

The city is also taking samples to test for the coronavirus to classify residential groups into four types: green, yellow, orange, or red in order to protect epidemic-free areas and control community infections.
