Around 1,500 pieces of unexploded ordnance have been discovered on a hill in the central province of Quang Tri by the UK’s Mines Advisory Group.

The materials were put into two holes on a cajuput hill in Trieu Son Commune, Trieu Phong District.
The first hole contained nearly 400 explosive items, while the remainder was detected at the second hole just 15 metres further away.
Up to 900 grenades accounted for the most out of the objects.
With support from the Mines Advisory Group, local authorities defused a number of the materials which posed a high risk of explosion on the spot while the remainder were transported to an area in Trieu Son Commune to await disposal.
