According to the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), digital platforms are online information systems using digital technology to create a network environment that allows many parties to provide services to organizations and individuals. It can be used immediately, conveniently, and is easily disseminated on a large scale as participating parties do not need to invest, manage, operate or maintain it themselves.

The digital platform is the "soft infrastructure" of the digital space, solving specific problems of digital transformation, creating and storing user data. The more users there are, the more data is accumulated, the lower the cost is, and the greater the value.

The MIC has submitted to the Prime Minister for approval the National Strategy for Digital Economy and Digital Society Development, in which the breakthrough solution is the development of national digital platforms.

On November 30, at the first meeting of the National Committee on Digital Transformation, the Prime Minister, who is also the Committee Chairman, assigned the MIC to assume the prime responsibility for developing action plans to promote the development and use of national digital platforms.

The first 35 national digital platforms announced by the MIC on December 11 are divided into six groups, including digital infrastructure platforms, core digital technology platforms, digital government platform, health - education - culture - society platforms, financial - banking - business platforms, and agriculture - transport - logistics - industry and trade platforms.

Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung said that of the 35 national digital platforms that have just been assigned to technology businesses to develop, some have already been provided services but not yet captured a significant market share while some are under research, development and preparation for deployment. But the general deadline for all of them is June 30, 2022.

According to Mr. Dung, MIC will issue an action program to promote the development and use of the national digital platform, with goals and indicators measured on a monthly basis in December 2021.
