A private shop in Hanoi quoted the price of VND4.5 million for iPhone 7, or VND800,000 lower than the previous month.

Meanwhile, iPhone X 64 GB has seen the price drop by another VND500,000 to VND14.4 million. As for iPhone 6, 6S and 6S Plus, the price decrease is sharper, VND1 million.

Nguyen Huy Tan, media executive of a distribution chain in Hanoi, said the price was falling because iPhone fans are expecting new models. But in Vietnam, iPhone 7, 7 Plus and iPhone X are still selling well. The products allow users to have good prices, while the prices are affordable for the majority of people.

However, they refuse iPhone 6 and SE, which not only were launched tlong ago, but also because they cannot satisfy the new requirements of modern times.

“We are considering stopping distributing the models,” said Bui Quang Trung from an iPhone shop on Cau Giay district in Hanoi.

The sharp fall in prices of the international versions of previous-generation models partially explains why locked versions have disappeared in the market.

Will the low prices of previous-generation models, people choose international versions rather than locked versions.

“Locked versions are just a little bit cheaper than international versions. Meanwhile, locked version users suffer from constant anxiety because they are not sure about the future,” said Vu Ha Linh, a third university student.

“To use locked versions of iPhones, one needs to have a givey sim or ICCID (Integrated Circuit Card Identifier). However, the manufacturers can make the ‘tools’ useless,” she explained.

On an website, a locked iPhone X 64 GB has the quoted price of VND13.5 million, while international version is VND900,000 more expensive.

A locked iPhone 7 Plus 32 GB is priced at VND7 million, while the used international version of the model is VND7.8 million.

While iPhone fans show big interest in 2019 iPhone models, the 2018 generation models failed to receive high attention from the public. Many shops have stopped selling brandnew XR, XS and XS Max.

Minh Duc from a distribution chain on Thai Ha street confirmed that the shop stopped selling iPhone 2018 some months ago, saying that the products are too expensive and don’t have special features and or fit Vietnamese taste.
