The Vietnamese leader congratulated the Chinese people on the great achievements that they have achieved under the leadership of the CPC over the past 100 years and highly evaluated China's successes in COVID-19 prevention and control, and social-economic development.

He also congratulated China on its 72nd National Day and expressed his belief that the Chinese people, under the leadership of the CPC with Xi as the core, will successfully realise the goal of building China into a modern socialist, rich and strong, democratic, civilised, harmonious and beautiful country.

The Vietnamese leader emphasised that although the COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly affected all aspects of life, exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, the relationship between the two Parties and the two nations has still maintained its development momentum.

Trong thanked China for sharing experience and supporting Vietnam with vaccines in the fight against COVID-19. He expressed his wish that the two sides will continue cooperation in COVID-19 prevention and control and post-pandemic recovery.

The Party chief affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the friendly neighbourliness and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China and underlined the need to increase the exchange of high-level delegations as well as those of ministries, agencies and localities.

Trong suggested the two sides continue to implement the agreements reached between the two countries as well as the deals on free trade and border economy. He suggested China create favourable conditions for a trade balance between the two countries, speeding up procedures for formally licensing the import of a number of Vietnam's key agricultural products.

The Vietnamese leader also proposed China increase investment in large projects, representing its development level, coordinate to solve problems and enhance people-to-people exchanges.

Trong suggested the two sides continue to closely collaborate in border management and protection, strictly implement legal documents on the land border between the two countries, build a shared borderline of peace, stability, cooperation, and development.

He called on the two sides to continue improving the effectiveness of maritime cooperation; promote discussions and negotiations on the delimitation and properly handle maritime issues, and effectively coordinate with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in negotiations to build a practical and effective Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Xi, for his part, congratulated Vietnam on its 76th National Day. He thanked Vietnam for coordinating with China to organise many activities on the occasion of the 100th founding anniversary of the CPC. He thanked and highly appreciated the Vietnamese Party chief for sending a message of congratulations and accepting his invitation to attend and deliver a speech at the CPC and World Political Parties Summit.

The Chinese leader lauded the achievements that the Vietnamese people have reaped in recent years under the leadership of the Party and Government of Vietnam. He expressed his confidence that the Vietnamese Party, Government, and people will successfully realise the goals and tasks set out by the 13th National Party Congress as well as his support for the Vietnamese Party and people’s following the socialist path suitable to the country's conditions. He also backed Vietnam’s efforts to push back the the pandemic, and promote socio-economic development.

The Chinese leader affirmed that China attaches great importance to the traditional friendly neighbourliness with Vietnam and is willing to work with the Party, Government, and people of Vietnam to continue strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries in the process of building socialism. He also agreed to enhance high-level exchanges and boost practical cooperation in various fields, coordinate together at multilateral forums, and properly handle maritime issues.

Xi said that given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was necessary for the two sides to maintain regular exchanges and meetings at all levels, sectors, and localities, speed up strategic connectivity and form new bright spots in cooperation between the two countries./.
