In 2017, the Prime Minister decided to establish the Cyberspace High Command, under the Ministry of National Defense (under the codename High Command 86) in order to reorganize the Information Technology Department under the General Staff.

The Cyberspace High Command is the focal point helping the Ministry of National Defense perform the state management function of protecting national sovereignty in cyberspace and information technology in the army.

The agency plays a pivotal role in national defense in cyberspace, in ensuring national cybersecurity and safety, and in the fight against high tech crime and desire to maintain a "peaceful evolution" in cyberspace.
