The Vietnam Tourism Annual Report 2018 highlighted that Ho Chi Minh city received the highest number of international tourists. The southern metropolis drew 7.5 million foreigners in 2018. Guests to the city can enjoy an array of activities including the chance to explore traditional markets, taking part in a river tour, and visiting a popular backpacker street in Pham Ngu Lao.

Last year Hanoi attracted a total of 5.7 million foreign tourists.

As the capital city of Vietnam, Hanoi is famous for being home to ancient architecture and a rich culture. Travelers are able to visit the bustling streets in the city’s Old Quarter which are packed with family-owned shops.

Quang Nam received 3.8 million foreign visitors.

Quang Nam enjoys a rich cultural history with two world cultural heritage sites located in the province, including the ancient town of Hoi An and the My Son sanctuary.

Danang saw 2.9 million foreigners visit in 2018.

Danang is famous for its high standards of living. The city ranked as one of the top 10 places worldwide for foreigners to live in 2018, according to the international tourism magazine Live and Invest Overseas.

Khanh Hoa attracted 2.8 million foreign tourists.

Khanh Hoa province is blessed with a coast line that stretches over 200 km in length and is home to nearly 200 large and small islands. The average temperature of the province is 26 degrees Celsius.

Thua Thien-Hue province welcomed 1.95 million foreign tourists visit in 2018.

Thua Thien – Hue province is famous for a number of unique historical and cultural relics. In addition, it is also home to charming and poetic landscapes.

Ninh Binh province saw 876,930 foreign visitors arrive last year.

Ninh Binh province possesses romantic and picturesque scenery and is also home to a number of famous tourist destinations such as Trang An, Tam Coc, Bich Dong, and Bai Dinh pagoda which annually attracts tens of thousands of visitors.

Haiphong received 857,000 foreign travelers.

Located 100 km from the capital of Hanoi, Haiphong is a popular destination among visitors due to its landscape, food, and beautiful beaches, including Cat Ba and Do Son.

Lao Cai saw 718,585 foreign arrivals.

Visiting Lao Cai province, visitors have the chance to admire the area’s famous landscapes such as the terraced rice fields of Sa Pa, one of the seven most magnificent terraced fields in all of Asia, as voted on by American magazine of Travel and Leisure. Other attractions in the province include Hoang Lien Son mountain range which is home to the peak of Fansipan at an altitude of 3,143m and is known as the roof of Indochina. Hoang Lien national park also contains a unique and diversified ecosystem.
