Before being called Trang Tien street, the road was known as Rue Paul Bert. In 1940 the Rue Paul Bert - Henri Rivie intersection was renamed the Trang Tien-Ngo Quyen intersection.

The Rue Paul Bert – Boissière crossroads are now known as the Trang Tien-Nguyen Xi crossroads.
