Tens of thousands of hectares of natural forests have been devastated just within a short time.

The Prime Minister’s decision to close natural forests released four years ago has brought initial effects: the forests have been protected and have expanded, though many problems still exist.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment 2017 found that the current total forest area has now reached 14,415,381 hectares, including 10,236,415 hectares of natural forests, an increase of 5,726 hectares over 2016.

In March 2011, the Lam Dong provincial people’s committee instructed relevant branches to stop licensing more rubber projects to private enterprises. However, it had had suffered heavily for the projects already.

VietNamNet Bridge – The rapid decline in the amount of forest cover and its quality has prompted the agriculture ministry to overhaul their forestry management policies, particularly towards logging activities.
