In total, Australian sides have been given 27.772 points, representing a drop of five places to 16th position overall.
In terms of Southeast Asia, teams from Vietnam remain ranked behind those from, Thailand, with 58.369 points, and those from the Philippines, with 32.915 points.
The recent rise of Vietnam in the rankings can be attributed to the strong performances of Ho Chi Minh City FC and Than Quang Ninh FC at the AFC Cup.
At present, Ho Chi Minh City FC are leading Group F with four points after drawing with Yangon United FC of Myanmar and beating Hougang United FC of Singapore. Elsewhere, Than Quang Ninh FC are bottom of Group F with a single point after losing to Bali United FC of Indonesia and drawing with Ceres-Negros FC of the Philippines.
In the AFC Champions League the Australian representatives have endured a miserable campaign so far, with the trio of Melbourne FC, Perth FC, and Sydney FC only winning a single match between them.
The AFC divides teams according to areas, including Western Asia and Eastern Asia. In Eastern Asia, Vietnam have risen to seventh position, which will ultimately help the winner of the V.League 2020 progress to the AFC Champions League 2021’s qualifying round.
The next round of matches in the AFC Cup are to be held from March 10 to 11. VOV
