Due to injuries two of the team’s key players, goalkeeper Tran Thi Ngoc Anh and defender Pham Thi Lan Anh, were unable to be called up.

The team is aiming to win four points in the group stages in order to make it to the competition’s semi-finals.

The championship is scheduled to run from October 27 to November 9.

Vietnam have been drawn in Group A along with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Australia, and host nation Thailand. Group B is made up of Myanmar, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and China.

Vietnam’s U19 women’s squad are due to start the tournament against host nation Thailand in the opening match at 19:00 on October 27.

The tournament’s top three teams will qualify for the 2020 FIFA U20 Women’S World Cup in Nigeria as AFC representatives.
