Having started the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Guatemala, the Vietnamese futsal team thumped Oman 3-1 to set up a final against the tournament’s host nation, Thailand.

The final was a hard-fought affair with Thailand going in 1-0 up after the first half. The second half saw a brief Vietnamese fightback come to nothing, with the Thai team hitting the Vietnamese team with two more goals to go 3-0 up with full time approaching.

The final minutes of the tie saw Vietnamese player Dang Anh Tai score a consolation goal to give the game a final score of 3-1 in favour of Thailand.

As a result, the championship title went to Thailand who were able to secure three wins during the international futsal tournament.

The competition’s top goal scorer was shared between Le Quoc Nam of Vietnam and Thailand’s No. 11 with two goals each.

The players on Vietnam’s futsal team are scheduled to meet again in January 2020 to take part in a training camp in Spain in preparation for the AFC Futsal Championship 2020 finals in Turkmenistan. VOV
