Cuong, world No.110, successfully beat Thailand’s Numkul, world No.131, in the tournament’s final round to claim the title.

The first set saw Cuong enjoy a comfortable 24/22 victory over Numkul before his Thai opponent quickly turned the tables, going on to win the second set with a score of 21/9.

The game was finely poised going into the third set, with Cuong displaying great confidence and ability to beat Numkul 21/19 and win the competition overall.

The victory represents Cuong’s first win in an international championship in 2019. The title will serve to help Vietnam’s second-best badminton player accumulate more points and give a boost to his world rankings. The win will also serve as motivation going into future international tournaments. VOV
