Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has been appointed head of the steering committee, while its deputy heads include Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hanoi Nguyen Duc Chung.

The steering committee is tasked with helping the PM to direct relevant ministries, sectors and localities to prepare for the SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11.

It can make decisions on the scale, date and venues to hold the two Games, with Hanoi as the main site, as well as the establishment of an organising board for the two events with Minister Thien as its head.

The committee is responsible for instructing related ministries, sectors and localities, and the organising board to hold the two Games in accordance with regulations of the Southeast Asian Games Federation and the ASEAN Para Sports Federation, as well as Vietnamese law.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is the standing office for the steering committee, which is responsible for ensuring its operation conditions, and making and approving a master plan on the preparation and organisation of the two Games./. VNA
