Ly Hoang Nam, Vietnam’s highest ranked tennis player, suffered a shock defeat in the second round of the ongoing Savannah Challenger tennis tournament after failing to beat Paolo Lorenzi of Italy on May 2.

During the first set, the Tay Ninh born player enjoyed a good start with the score at 3-1.

However, his Italian rival fought back to hold Nam to a 3-3 draw in the second set.

The Italian continued the fight back and went onto a record a victory with the final score of 6-2.

Hoang Nam and the Vietnamese tennis team will next compete in the Davis Cup Asia-Pacific Zone Group III, which is set to take place in Singapore during May.
