Talented Japanese guitarist Yuki Matsui

The Fingerstyle Guitarist will present several of his most famous pieces of music, including “Night street”, “Overtake”, “Rider”, “Flying to the future”, and “You and me”, in addition to performing some of his most famous hits including “Cha-la-head-cha-la”, more commonly known as the theme song of Dragon Ball Z, and “My first kiss”, the theme song of Kiteretsu Daihyakka.

The shows are scheduled to take place on October 5 in Ho Chi Minh City and October 6 in Hanoi and will also feature a number of special guests, including young Chinese guitarist Jiazhuo Liu, in addition to Vietnamese artists Danh Tu and Duy Phong.

This latest visit to the country will be the second time Yuki Matsui has performed in Vietnam following the 2018 tour.

He has invited the 14-year-old self-taught guitarist Jiazhou Liu from China to open his concerts.

Matsui began playing guitar when he was seven years old. He became a viral sensation with a rendition of Australian hard rock band AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck”, played in the style of Italian guitarist Luca Stricagnoli, in 2017.

Yuki Matsui was born in 1986 in Yokohama, Japan. He began learning guitar by watching videos of well-known Japanese acoustic guitarist Kotaro Oshio at the age of 14.

He later studied with composer and guitarist Daisuke Minamizawa whose sheet music with CD Melodies of Solo Guitar exceeded 400,000 sales in Japan by 2015.

Matsui later uploaded his videos on YouTube, which quickly became viral. His YouTube channel now has more than 142,000 subscribers.

Matsui organised his first live show in Shibuya, Tokyo in 2010. A year later, he released his debut album Friend, which won global acclaim for its sophisticated compositions and unique cover song arrangement using open tuning as well as performance technology.

He has appeared in concert tours across Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and the US.

In 2018, Matsui launched “Yuki Matsui - Live in Vietnam 2018” with three concerts in HCM City, Da Nang and Hanoi.

Matsui’s concert in HCM City will take place at VOH Music ONE concert hall at No 3 Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street in District 1, while the event in Hanoi will be held at L’Espace at 24-26 Trang Tien Street in Hoan Kiem District.
