Two foreign tourists look at photos on display at an exhibition about HCMC’s development on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street. The city is organizing a music and theater contest, encouraging works that highlight the city’s achievements in multiple fields

 

 

The contest, under the theme “One love forever”, is open to both amateur and professional contestants nationwide, according to the news site of the HCMC People’s Committee.

In the music category, entries can be song, musical, choir, orchestra and instrumental music, while the theater category includes cai luong (southern opera), tuong (Vietnamese classical opera), hat boi (traditional opera), cheo (northern opera) and drama.

Each contestant can submit at most two works, which are composed between January 1, 2017 and July 30, 2020 and have not won top prizes at any national contests.

The entries should center around the city’s achievements in socio-economic development, culture, and international integration over the past 45 years.

For each category, there will be one first prize worth VND100 million, two second prizes worth VND80 million each, three third prizes worth VND50 million each, and five consolation prizes of VND30 million each.

Entries should be sent to the HCMC Department of Culture and Sports, 164 Dong Khoi Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1 no later than July 30.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for early September, on the occasion of the National Day at the HCMC Opera House. SGT
