The event will feature an exhibition titled “Flaw” by Thuy Tien and a stage performance titled “Cu Chot” by Tra Nguyen.

Flaw is the acronym for “Fall in Love Another Way”. The exhibition continues from Thuy Tien’s solo exhibition My Marriage at The Factory Contemporary Arts Center in May, portraying love as a multi-faceted subject.

In addition to photography, which is Tien’s major medium, this new series includes a sculpture that has taken 112 hours to complete and an artwork that would require the visitors’ interaction and love to fully exhibit.

Cu Chot is Tra Nguyen’s stage adaptation from Roald Dahl’s short story The Last Act. Tra keeps the original text but develops a structure in which the characters need to define the roles for themselves.

The play features contemporary dancer Le Mai Anh as the Performer and Trinh Cao Hoa Thanh as the Reader.

Vo Thuy Tien is a visual artist and creative director, who graduated from HCMC University of Architecture. She works with variable media such as photography, books, illustration, animation and film. Tien’s previous exhibitions included her solo exhibition My Marriage in 2019 and group exhibitions Good 50x70 in 2010 and I Love My City, My People in 2013. She also co-wrote the children’s book The Alphabet I Found in Mom’s Kitchen, which was published in 2017.

Tra Nguyen is a self-taught theater director, writer, and arts manager. Until recently, Tra has been acting director of San Art, the longest-running independent space for contemporary art in HCMC with which she has contributed to developing various educational programs for visual art.

Tra has been cultivating her passion for dramatic art through several local theater productions. Her works often use stories as a means to talk about loneliness and futility. Her projects are constructed from meeting and collaborating with practitioners from different fields.

Tra Nguyen’s latest works include theater project The Run and experimental series 3P’s: The Performers Performing the Performed. SGT
