Chien was number seven in the world at the end of 2019, and qualified for the event at the Golden Nugget Casino from October 11-17.

It is the first time a Vietnamese player has been invited to compete at the event, which has the biggest bonus in the world. In 2018, organisers shelled out US$600,000, of which winner Frederic Caudron of Belgium bagged US$150,000.

The second event has been expanded from 12 to 18 players with a top prize of $200,000.

Apart from the top seven, two other participants will be identified from a qualifying tournament in Ireland in June. They include Ngo Dinh Nai and Nguyen Quoc Nguyen. They will be divided into two groups. The top two from each group will play cross finals and the two winners will fly to Las Vegas.

Nine other players will be announced later with big names as well as wildcards. VNS
