Vietnamese-origin billionaire singer donates more necessities to pandemic-hit people
Ha Phuong, a Vietnamese-origin singer whose husband is the wealthiest Vietnamese in the US, has again authorized her mother and friends in Vietnam to donate more than 100 tons of necessities and cash to Covid-19 affected people in HCM City.
The Fatherland Front Committee of Ward 3, Binh Thanh District presents gifts to needy people on behalf of Vietnamese American singer Ha Phuong.
After Ha Phuong gave more than 3,000 gift boxes and hundreds of tons of food to needy people in Ho Chi Minh City last month, this time her father-in-law – doctor Chu Phu Chung (Dennis Chu) – joined Ha Phuong in doing charity in his home country.
Ha Phuong and Dr. Dennis Chu have donated hundreds of tons of necessities and cash to over 1,000 needy families in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa provinces, the places where the family of billionaire Chinh Chu – Ha Phuong’s husband - used to live.
Each household last week received a gift bag consisting of 10 kg of rice, 1 box of noodles, 1 kg of sugar, 1 bottle of fish sauce, 1 bottle of soy sauce, 4 boxes of fish, 10 duck eggs, 1 liter of cooking oil and milk.
Specifically, through the Fatherland Front Committee of Ward 3, Binh Thanh District, Ha Phuong and her father-in-law presented 600 gift bags to local residents; 80 gift bags and 20 envelopes of cash to pandemic-hit employees of Huynh Long tuong troupe; 20 gift bages and cash to employees of Meritorious Artist Ngoc Khanh's tuong troupe; and some poor people in Cau Muoi market area.
Gifts are presented to poor people in Khanh Hoa province.
In Khanh Hoa, through the abbot of Phuoc Long pagoda and the local authorities, the singer presented 400 gift boxes to people in Dien Toan commune, Dien Khanh district, Khanh Hoa province.
In Binh Dinh, the singer donated cash to 100 needy families in Tan An village, Hoai Chau commune, Hoai Nhon town.
Ha Phuong was a well-known singer in Vietnam before she married billionaire Chinh Chu in 2002 and settled down in the US. Her two sisters – Cam Ly and Minh Tuyet - are also famous singers in Vietnam and the community of overseas Vietnamese in the US.
Every time she returns home to visit her family, Ha Phuong actively does charity work.
