Nguyen Thi Oanh won the women's 10,000-metre category in 34 minutes 08 seconds 54 at the 2020 National Athletics Championship on November 13.

 

The new champion broke the record that athlete Doan Nu Truc Van set in 2003 at 34 minutes 48 seconds 28.


That was Nguyen Thi Oanh’s second gold medal on the fourth day of competition. The same morning, she also reached the first goal on the 3,000 metre-long course. In total, Oanh won four gold medals.

Nguyen Thi Oanh, 23, was a key athlete of the Vietnamese team at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines. At the event, she won three gold medals in the women’s 1,500m, 3,000m steeplechase, and 5,000m hurdles events.
