When mentioning sea tourism in the North, Ha Long, Cat Ba or Quan Lan islands are always the top choices for tourists. In the region, there are many other localities with potential for development yet still struggling for a right direction to develop sea tourism.

In summer, instead of being bustling with crowds and funs, beaches in Nam Dinh province look rather gloomy with garbage and few tourist arrivals.

The same story goes for Thai Binh province. Garbage has left bad impression on tourists about local beaches.

According to insiders, most beaches are estuarine ones so the water looks not so transparent. Not to mention, the tourism infrastructure in these localities is underdeveloped without comprehensive planning.

Many Vietnamese localities have succeeded to make sea tourism a cash-cow. However, coastal Red River Delta provinces still encounter difficulties in attracting investment in sea-tourism.

Unless the local infrastructure is improved, Nam Dinh and Thai Binh will still be blind spots in Vietnam’s sea-tourism map.

Besides improving infrastructure, tourism diversification and connection among tourist destinations should also be enhanced.-VNA
