In recent years, Amazon has been using the machines which scoop goods down to conveyor belt, placing them in boxes made specifically for each item. It is estimated that each machine, worth $1 million, can replace 24 workers.

According to Tran Tuan Anh, CEO of Shopee Vietnam, e-commerce firms are continuously innovating to meet needs and improve the users' experience, so forwarding companies must make efforts to deliver goods quickly to lure more customers.

Shopee now utilizes technology which classifies goods automatically, thus helping to shorten the time of classifying according to value, weight and size. Therefore, both sellers and buyers on Shopee can be sure that their goods can be delivered quickly.

Tiki’s CEO Tran Ngoc Thai Son also said the existence of automatic classification system helps provide delivery services in remote localities, including remote islands.

A representative of Giao Hang Nhanh said the firm has put into operation an automatic classification system which can undertake 30,000 orders an hour at Giao Hang Nhanh storehouse in Long Bien district.

In the past, it took three hours to classify goods manually. But now, with the automatic system, it takes only 30 minutes to fulfill the work for the same volume of goods, thus allowing goods to be delivered to customers within the day. This is the outstanding delivery service with the quality equal to the standards in developed countries (the US, China and South Korea).

The second system will be put into operation in November in HCM City.

In large cities, Giao Hang Nhanh can deliver goods within 12-14 hours. For other localities, the time is 24-36 hours.

Meanwhile, Tran Hai Linh, CEO of Sendo, said Sendo is trying to upgrade consumers’ experience by upgrading the quality of transport and logistics services, and through online payment when it cooperates with relevant partners.

Choosing Giao Hang Nhanh as partner for the last seven years, Fabian Wandt, CEO of Lazada said the automatic classification system will help increase competitiveness compared with other deliverymen. This will shape the picture of the forwarding industry in the future.
