Last year was the China-ASEAN Year of Digital Economy Cooperation. The On-line CAEXPO is an innovative move to respond to the impact of the epidemic and to promote China-ASEAN digital economic cooperation. After its debut, on-line CAEXPO has been running all year round on a regular basis, making the CAEXPO with curtain that never falls.

Exploiting the potential of Internet

Affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, this year, the head of Dking Duricious Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has increased the sales online. Hearing about the on-line CAEXPO, he immediately contacted the person in charge, hoping that their durian products could continue to enter the Chinese market as well as other Southeast Asian markets through this online platform.

While cross-border e-commerce is booming in China, new models such as sales on live streaming have also entered Southeast Asian countries in the past two years. Especially when China and ASEAN have become each other’s largest trading partners now, the prospects for cooperation between the two sides in the field of e-commerce are very broad, and cross-border e-commerce has become a new engine for the development of China-ASEAN trade.

Wang Lei, Secretary-General of the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat, said that by exploring the potential of cross-border e-commerce cooperation, on-line CAEXPO will promote the formation of new growth points for China-ASEAN economic and trade cooperation.

The mixed model of “physical exhibition + on-line CAEXPO” adopted for the first time in the 17th China-ASEAN Expo provided participants with free services such as online exhibition, online negotiation and conference, live broadcast and cross-border e-commerce.

Physical & on-line CAEXPO offers more business opportunities

On-line CAEXPO, which debuted last year, created a multi-linkage exhibition platform, showcasing more than 4,800 items. A total of 1,956 enterprises in the 17th CAEXPO participated in on-line CAEXPO, 135 online conferences were held, 3,000 pairs of accurate matching were made, the entire network exposure reached 1 billion, and the site visits were 20.17 million, providing a new experience of the mixed model for participating businesses. On-line CAEXPO has achieved substantial results.

The 18th CAEXPO has been upgraded to a new mixed model with physical exhibition + online CAEXPO. On-line CAEXPO will keep “updating” and continue to build the CAEXPO with curtain that never falls.

It is learned from the Vietnamese co-organizer of CAEXPO that Vietnam plans to set up remote booths of 80 square meters. This will be the first time in CAEXPO to use remote booth, which provides enterprises with online display and real-time video negotiation services. The representative of the Malaysian co-organizer confirmed that many Malaysian enterprises have signed up to participate in the physical exhibition and on-line CAEXPO.

The 18th China-ASEAN Expo will launch a new investment promotion system on the platform of on-line CAEXPO, and a “Festival of Selected Goods” will be held with Internet celebrity Wei Ya live broadcasting and promoting the premium goods, helping famous products from China and ASEAN to open up the market.

In addition, On-line CAEXPO will add a Polish Pavilion for the first time this year, and Polish companies can apply for online exhibition free of charge. “We will provide technical support and training for enterprises participating in On-line CAEXPO to help Polish products enter the Chinese and ASEAN markets,” said Wang Lei said at the China-Poland Business Webinar 2021 & Promotion Conference on the 18th China-ASEAN Expo.

Wang Lei said that the functions of the On-line CAEXPO will be improved to achieve year-round running on a regular basis.

First is to improve functions such as “online display”, “online conference”, and “online negotiation”. Online experience of attending exhibitions will be enhanced and network security protection capabilities will be strengthened.

Second is to improve the effectiveness of online economy and trade. Live promotion conferences, product launches, and “one-to-one” video matching activities, etc., will be held to strengthen the linkage between physical exhibitions and online activities, and help enterprises expand their market.

Third is to run the online exhibition all the year round. Platform operation and talent training will be improved to provide year-round online display and economic and trade promotion services on a regular basis.

Fourth is to organize online exhibitions for ASEAN countries. Online exhibitions and economic and trade activities for Country of Honor Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam are under preparation.
