The Agency for Regional Industry and Trade, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), held a press briefing on September 10 to announce the ceremony.

Addressing the meeting, Hoang Chinh Nghia, deputy head of the agency, noted that the panel of judges had shortlisted 110 of the 226 participating products.

Among the chosen items, there are 19 handicraft products, 54 products in the agro-forestry-fishery sector, 18 machinery and equipment items, and 19 items from other groups.

Pham Thu Giang, deputy head of the MOIT’s Science and Technology Department, was quoted by Phap Luat newspaper as saying the voting to select the typical products was expected to help enterprises gain further insights and meet product requirements in terms of product quality declaration, technology innovation and packaging to increase the products’ competitive advantage.

Apart from receiving rewards and certificates, companies offering these typical products will be allowed to print the program’s logo on the packaging or attach it and will be prioritized for receiving support in trade promotion activities, Giang added.

The ceremony will be held in conjunction with the opening ceremony of an exhibition displaying the country’s typical rural industrial products for the year in Thang Long Imperial Citadel. SGT
